NEO Group CEO Raymond Rufino has had a successful run in making a name for their family business as a sustainable developer.

Rufino, however, admits he has one big “what if” in his career.

“I would have liked to work outside the family business, even if it was just for a few years, to experience that,” Rufino told Usapang Bilyonaryo.

“I’ve always worked within a family setting, so I don’t know what it’s like. It’s a question mark and it’s never going to be answered, unfortunately, because I’ve been so deep with the family business, I can’t imagine working outside of it after all my life being here,” he added.

“I think it would have been, I think, good for my growth. I think it would have been good exposure for me to have worked for another organization.”

Rufino went to work for his father, Charlie Rufino, after completing his master’s degree in Columbia University. Under his helm, NEO became known for constructing eco-friendly buildings, with seven in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig alone.

“Every time we develop a new building, the sense of fulfillment, the sense of accomplishment, and there’s a strange analogy, but I guess for sometimes for men, I’d like to say it’s like you gave birth,” he added.
